Kitesurfing at Lake of Garda
Kite surfers and windsurfers can live together in harmony because they are restricted to the bands of lake intended for them, although some “invasion of the field” is on the agenda.
The Trentina band of the Lake is made by Pier, Riva, Torbole and Tempesta, which is exclusive territory for windsurfing, since kitesurfing it is prohibited until 18.00.
Along the West coast, from Capo Reamol, you can see some kite surfer between the myriad of windsurfers, then kite surfers increase in numbers on the Limone sul Garda-Campione, up to reverse the ratio.
In this area of the lake wind and wave conditions are very good, especially in the early afternoon. Unfortunately the space available for maneuvering of departure and return to the beach is restricted and very crowded during summer time. In Campione a transport service for departures and recovery boats is available (which is ideal for beginners).
Going further towards the Pra of Fam “Port of Tignale," the kite surfers reduce in number, especially in the morning, and from Gargnano and then you can rarely see them.
On the East coast, from Navene
to Brenzone, the number of kite surfers gets higher fast, and the things that make it possible are the following:
- The many long beaches that allow enough room for moving;
- The many transportation services for departures and recoveries off;
- The stretch of coast that many towns have allocated for the exclusive use of this sport.
- The presence of nearby parking spots.
The Southern coastline of the lake is not so much frequented by kite surfers. Winds are weaker while there are normal weather conditions, but when there is a strong wind from blowing North high waves rise as long as the sea, which is ideal for jump and surf .
